Magical Inspiration

We had an age-old argument :
Did drugs inspire great poems ?
I said, not on your life
On how those drugs you took
Affected me as your wife.

You said it made you more creative
I think that's a lie!
You would have more time
If you were sober and sound minded
Without drugs, you would rhyme!

What about all those rock stars?
The drugs inspire them
Using that as your defense
I told you they'd be even better without
You caused me great offense

Oh, but how I love you
Don't want to let you go
The drugs have ruined your life
I need to turn my back on you
The drugs are now your wife!
