Lies breathed through Silver - The Truest Myth

 The dragon that was slain

Myths that were feigned

Stories of these abound
And orally get around

‘Lies breathed through silver’
When one writes without pilver
Lewis to Tolkien said
Imagination of ones head

It’s not really true
You haven’t got a clue
C.S.Lewis to Tolkien said
When, Tolkien fed …….

Lewis’s imagination
With the truest story told
Much better, more bold
Than those myths of old.

Of a true knight in shining armour
Who redeemed the world
As Tolkien spoke,
The tale was unfurled

Lewis thought of all the stories
He had been told
And the ones he had done
Children loved them, Oh such fun !

Rags to riches
All those deaths
In defeating a Monster
In  those epic quests

Romantic Tragedies
Joyful Comedies
Victory snatched
Happily ever after s - matched

‘ No, ‘said Tolkien
‘They are not lies’
It has survived
As the truest myth ever told

This Knight still lives
Ancient of days is old
This is not a myth
It’s the truest story ever told

Lewis meditated on his bed
Of all that Tolkien had said
What he had told
In Lewis’s mind, it became solid Gold

Within less than a month
C.S.Lewis had found
In that age old story
A divine romance

Of a Knight who had
Conquered mankind’s sin
So at the end of time
All can enter in !
